Scar Compensation Dysfunctions &
NeuroKinetic Therapy®
Are Your Scars Creating
Hidden Dysfunction?

Scars are often overlooked in traditional care—but in our work with NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT) and bodywork, they can be a key source of compensation and imbalance in the body.

Even small, well-healed scars can disrupt your body’s natural movement patterns by interfering with the nervous system’s motor control strategy. Identifying and addressing these disruptions can lead to powerful shifts in pain, mobility, and overall function.

Why We Look at Scars at BodyMoxie
Scars can:
-
Disrupt the fascial network
-
Inhibit or overactivate nearby muscles
-
Create neurological compensation patterns
-
Influence pain or movement far from the original site
Using NeuroKinetic Therapy®, we assess how your brain and body have adapted around these areas—and retrain them to function more efficiently and pain-free.
Have a scar you’ve never thought twice about?
It might be the missing link in your healing journey.

WHAT IS
NEUROKINETIC THERAPY®?
NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT) is a sophisticated assessment and treatment modality that uses manual muscle testing to identify the root causes of pain, dysfunction, or imbalance in the body. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, NKT helps uncover the underlying motor control patterns stored in the brain that may be driving compensation, weakness, or tension.

Using Manual Muscle Testing, NKT integrates principles from Motor Control Theory, neuroscience, and functional anatomy—often referred to as neurobiomechanics. At its core, it recognizes that the brain controls movement through learned patterns, and when injury or dysfunction occurs, the body often adapts by creating compensatory strategies. Over time, these compensations can become the default, leading to chronic pain, limited mobility, or recurring injuries.

WHAT IS GYROTONIC®?
GYROTONIC® is an exercise system developed by Juliu Horvath in the 1980s that enhances spinal movement across all planes while strengthening and lengthening the surrounding muscles. The method stretches, strengthens, and elongates muscles, supports connective tissue around joints, and improves balance, coordination, and flexibility.

A regular GYROTONIC® practice promotes a healthier, more supple spine, greater joint stability, improved range of motion, and enhanced agility and athletic performance. Sessions are tailored for all ages and abilities—from injury recovery and post-surgical rehabilitation to posture alignment and scoliosis treatment—making it beneficial for both everyday wellness and professional athletic training.
